The Davis Police Department has served the City of Davis and its unincorporated areas since 1906. Initially operating as the main law enforcement hub for the entire Metropolitan area, the Davis Police Department was under extreme pressure from the surrounding politicians and local community. With skyrocketing homicide rates, multiple police brutality claims, and scandals involving the Department’s administration, the entire department resigned and is currently undergoing rebuilding and retraining.
